dance at the opera house

OHA is thrilled to welcome dancer/choreographer Joanna Kotze, visual artist Jonathan Allen, dancer Omagbitse Omagbemi, and composer/musician Ryan Seaton to perform their collaborative multidisciplinary dance piece What will we be like when we get there.

This innovative team investigates physical, emotional, and artistic spectrums while reflecting on personal journeys and the current environment in this playful performance-- bringing attention to our desires, flaws, strengths, and fantasies. As one reviewer wrote of its premiere in NYC, “Kotze takes advantage of every part of the New York Live Arts Theater, immersing the audience in the vast unpredictability of life in the twenty-first century through an exhilarating controlled chaos.”

What will we be like when we get there is a semi-improvised performance that will take inspiration from the Stonington Opera House itself, illuminating the artists’ curiosity-driven response to the immediacy of space and the objects found there. This is an extraordinary opportunity to witness in-the-moment creative collaboration as well as experience our artistic home in a profoundly altered way.
