The HEAR and Now: An In-Ear Acting Workshop with
Anna Fitzgerald and Marvin Merritt IV

Sunday, Jan. 17 at 3:00pm ET

ABOUT THE PLAY

Over the course of 30 years, the lives of Kayleen and Doug intersect at the most bizarre intervals, leading the two childhood friends to compare scars and the physical calamities that keep drawing them together. Meeting at the nurse’s office in their elementary school, these “scar-crossed lovers” meet again and again, brought together by injury, heartbreak, and their own self-destructive tendencies. With great compassion and humor, Rajiv Joseph crafts a compelling and unconventional love story about the intimacy between two people when they allow their defenses to drop and their wounds to show.

ABOUT THE PERFORMANCE

Anna Fitzgerald (Kayleen) and Marvin Merritt IV (Doug) collaborate to mount a stripped down, acting-focused performance of GPI. The duo utilize in-ear technique and three robotic cameras to dynamically bring you this moving play in the New Year. The performance will be broadcast live from the Stonington Opera House for you to enjoy safely at home.

GPI is produced by Opera House Arts and co-sponsored by the Office for the Arts and the Theater, Dance & Media Department at Harvard.

Please be advised, this production contains depictions of self-harm and mental illness.
