100 Years of Movies SeriesCelebrate the Stonington Opera House Centennial with this FREE series!
As part of the Opera House’s centennial celebrations gift to our audiences, over the next 10 months we’ll run this free series of some of the most interesting films from the last 100 years.
Silent movie projectors were installed in the Stonington Opera House in 1918, and in 1927 these were upgraded to some of the first projectors with sound. In commemoration of the importance of movies to the life of the Opera House and its patrons, Opera House Arts is pleased to screen classic films from 1912-2012, each of which exemplifies the best in the particular popular film genre of their eras. Curated and introduced by Mackenzie Morris, a graduate of George Stevens Academy and Vassar College with a degree in Film Studies.
