100 YEARS AND COUNTING...Help Celebrate the Opera House’s 2012 Centennial!
2012 is the 100th Anniversary of our beloved Stonington Opera House building! On the National Register of Historic Places, our spruce green-shingled icon has over its 100 years served as a movie house, vaudeville stage, community center, basketball court, roller-skating rink; and as a venue for high school graduations, town meetings, special events, and other celebrations. This magic box of a theater holds many shared memories for our island community. More recently as the home of Opera House Arts for over a decade, its stage has served to showcase a myriad of world premieres, dance, music and more, garnering regional and national visibility and acclaim, creating yet another generation of milestones and memories. What a treasured legacy we share!
When you support Opera House Arts you ensure that the Stonington Opera House moves into its second 100 years as we create new and exciting theater relevant to and representative of our unique Down East home.

- for the widow or widower who gets free admission to a concert…
Join us in growing the Opera House Centennial Fund, which represents our commitment to listening to the rich voices and cultural legacy of this special place as we make excellent new art and opportunities for everyone. We believe that in creating shared opportunities for the diverse members of our communities we change the world, one heart at a time, making our local communities stronger and giving adding our voices to national dialogues.
With Only 35% of Opera House Arts’ annual budget derived from ticket sales, we rely on the generosity and support of donors like you to keep the heat on, the movies rolling, the popcorn popping, the building upright and great new live Maine performances being created and produced. Your support will help ensure this magical place will endure and thrive for all of us—fishermen, visitors, homeowners, students, and grandchildren—for the next 100 years.
Monthly giving is especially important to the health of our programs. A monthly gift is a simple and painless way to ensure that these vital programs can grow and change with their audiences.
